Rose Pillar liked to think that she was doing better with her anxiety. The day of her first dance recital saw her throw up all over her tights, and she almost passed out when her friends dared her to jump off the high dive at the pool. When she first learned that her family was moving not just to a new town, but a whole other country? Those were a rough few days, and that was before she even stepped off the plane; her first day at school was so nerve-wracking that she hyperventilated and spent half the day in the nurse’s office. Were it not for the help of her soon-to-be lifelong friends, she had no idea how she would have survived high school. And now, she was feeling that swell of panic all over again as she stood outside her new home for the next four years. Ridgewood College was a small university, especially when compared to some of her friends’ picks, but that was just what Rose wanted. COMM: How Not to be An Idol (Revenge, WG, SSBBW)
//Content Warning: Weight gain and manipulation\\ The crowds of people chanted our names as we both moved around the stage with ease. One hand held the microphone to my mouth, the other moved up in an arched position. It rested there and my hand settled into a peace sign above my head. Here we held our final pose, our breaths heavy and synched as thousands of people broke out into a cheer. My smile never wavered, despite my constant stage fright. It was something I had never truly gotten over. Charlotte, on the other hand, carried herself a lot better than I did. It figured, giving that she had a few more years of experience. I’d never seen her falter or worry; I admired her for it. As always, we wore similar outfits, hers being a lot more mature than mine. They were both a deep purple with white lining to reflect our hairs (mine being a stark white, hers being purple). My dress flared out at the waist and was decorated with hundreds of diamonds that were sure to sparkle beneath the stage lights, putting an unwelcome focus on me. Hers, on the other hand, was figure hugging and was made with a pencil-like skirt. She had the odd diamond here and there, but it wouldn’t so much as glint on stage. When I had first started, she had been the star of the show, but it had since changed as she aged. I was happy to be successful, any person would be, but I’d liked it when she was the one they all focused on. I was sure she felt the same. *** I pushed back a lock of purple hair and stared over at Kimiko. Her name was the one they all shouted, mine was scattered amongst the crowd, breaking through at random intervals. My hand gripped the microphone a little tighter and I had to keep from storming off there and then. If it weren’t for me, she wouldn’t be the star she was today. Despite my annoyance, I turned back to the crowd and bared my perfectly, white teeth in a big grin. I knew to stay professional, to keep the act up, or else our manager would be berating me … yet again. When signalled to do so by the voice in our ear, I took Kimiko’s hand in my own. I noticed her nails had been painted with a sparkly purple, whereas they had opted to do mine white. Once again, she had been spared no expense, while I was given the cheaper and more simple option. I bowed with her, my long hair falling to cover my face. I held it for a moment and rose once more to greet the crowd one final time. But what did it matter? All eyes were on her. My hand squeezed her’s before we released and I hoped it had hurt her that little bit, but she wouldn’t notice, what with her being so ditzy. She exited stage right, me stage left. I threw the microphone to the stagehand who then tossed me a towel which I promptly discarded. True idols didn’t sweat. Kimiko was already heading towards me; she always liked to congratulate me on a good show. It was redundant at this point; every show was guaranteed to be great so long as I was on stage. *** I thanked my stagehand, took the towel and lightly blotted my damp brow before approaching Charlotte. “Great show!” I exclaimed when I was within earshot. She had always been hard to read, I was sure she was angry most of the time, but I hoped that was just her face. Her jaw was square, and her lips were always pulled into a tight line. It was her eyes that put me off the most. On stage they were big and bright, but any other time they were slanted and dark as if set to a permanent scowl. I couldn’t understand her. She had that same look on her face now and I wrung out my towel and bowed my head, my white hair falling to conceal my reddening cheeks. “Thank you.” Was all she said, through the gaps in my hair I could see the smile that was forced onto her lips. It was even more unsettling than the scowl. I smiled and bowed again; my hands clasped together while the towel fell to my feet. Awkwardly I reached for it and stumbled forward. I saw her step aside, not bothering to even break my fall. When I was on my knees she hurried over and offered me her hand. *** “Oh dear,” I pushed concern into my voice. “Are you okay, Kimiko?” My hand was offered to her, and she took it sheepishly. I watched her stagger to her feet, and I reached down, collected the towel and handed it to her. “I-I’m okay.” Her face was redder than it had been only moments ago. “Thank you for your concern. I best go, I have to meet my friends later. Bye!” She hurried off, her little legs only allowing her to go so fast, but I could tell she wished to go a lot quicker. I returned to my dressing room, removed my purple wig to reveal my natural, black hair underneath. But, as a way of staying in touch with my idol life, I had recently had purple streaks put in to give it that added flair. I ran my fingers through the shoulder length locks and inspected myself in the mirror. I was still young, only 25, still beautiful, so why was I being so obviously pushed aside? She was only 2 years my junior, it wasn’t that much of a difference. I felt my jaw harden and my fist curled around the wig still in my other hand. I wouldn’t let my fame die that easily. *** It had been a whole week since I had last seen Charlotte. Our last show had been the end of our first proper tour around Japan and so we’d be given time to rest afterwards. Today we were being called in for a meeting about our next steps as the idol duo, Harmonic Chaos. I was excited at the prospect of it, and I hoped Charlotte was too. Before going into the office, I stopped off at my favourite coffee shop in all of Tokyo, Keiko’s Coffee. It was a small business and had been running since I first moved here in the hopes of becoming a star. I liked that it wasn’t well-known, it meant that I wasn’t likely to be recognised by people unless they were seeking me out. I had dressed somewhat generic to blend in, but my white hair (even pulled up in a bun) always gave me a way. I had decorated it with a black bow and wore a black dress to match. It was my usual style, flared out and frilly. I wore a loose white sweater over it and white boots. Okay … so it wasn’t exactly low-key. Keiko greeted me at the counter, as she always did. She was an older woman with grey streaks and lined eyes. But age didn’t mean much to her, she still dressed as though she were in her twenties. Her black hair cascaded down her back and she donned a bright pink dress that hugged her plumpish frame. The coffee shop was painted in various shades of pink and was broken up by reds and whites in the forms of cushions and centre pieces. It was why I loved this place so much; it spared no expense on flair. “Morning, my famous idol.” She bowed to me, and I felt my cheeks redden. “Morning, Keiko.” I bowed back, thankful to conceal my embarrassed face. “I’m afraid I won’t be sitting in today; I have a meeting to get to.” “Oh, is it a very important meeting? Are we excepting a global tour?” Keiko had believed in me from the very beginning and had pushed me on every bit of the way, but I think she might have gotten ahead of herself just a little. “Not quite. We’ve only just became well-known in Japan. It might be a while before we do that.” She laughed and turned away from me to prepare my drink. I admired Keiko and her confidence. Japan wasn’t really the best place to be if you were bigger, it wasn’t standard. But that didn’t seem to matter to Keiko, she only cared about her coffee and her cats. I ordered the same thing every day, an iced coffee with lots of vanilla and cream on top. I’d always had a thing for sweet drinks … sweet food … sweet everything. But I could only allow myself one sweet thing a day as my job meant that I had to watch my figure. So, it was always an iced coffee from Keiko that I indulged in. She handed the coffee to me in a plastic cup, the whip cream was topped with sprinkles and a drizzle of white chocolate. I couldn’t wait to devour it. *** 10am was the time of our meeting, I arrived early at 9:45am. Kimiko, however, didn’t arrive until a few minutes after 10am holding a sickly-sweet drink that made my stomach churn. How unprofessional of her. As she approached the sound of her slurping become louder and even more irritating. She tried with all her might to get every last drop of it out and then resorted to removing the lid and pouring the last dregs into her mouth. “Morning.” I greeted her. Somehow, she hadn’t even noticed I was there, and my voice startled her so much that the cup slipped from her grasp and fell at her feet. “M-morning,” she stuttered and reached for the cup. “Sorry.” Clumsily she dropped it into the waste basket and took a seat at the table. “I’m not late, am I?” I was about to scold her when our manager, Zhang, announced his presence. He was an older man, Chinese, who had moved to Japan at the young age of 7 so he had mastered the language perfectly. Though he still insisted on practicing Japanese with us at every given opportunity, I do, however, think it was just a way to talk with us as he didn’t have a wife or a lover, in other words he was a sad, lonely man who had dedicated too much of his life to his job. “Good morning my beautiful idols. So happy to have you both here, it means I can congratulate you both on your amazing tour. The fans adored you!” He spoke to both of us though his gaze wandered mostly to Kimiko. She was the apple of his eye, ugh. “Now, you know why we’re here?” Kimiko rose her hand sheepishly as if we were in school, how pathetic. “Yes, Kimiko!” He played into her shyness; I was sure he found it adorable. “To discuss our future?” For some reason his eyes flickered to me and there was a look of disdain on his face. I composed myself and folded my arms in front of me on the desk. I picked at the ring on my finger and twirled it in attempt to stay quiet. “Correct, Kimiko. So where do we go from here?” I chose not to speak, whatever I had to say, Zhang was no longer interested. So instead, I looked to Kimiko for the answer, as did he. “M-more tours?” Her voice was quieter now, as always, she wasn’t confident in what she was saying. And rightly so, it was a stupid answer. More tours were a given, I knew exactly what was needed to flair things up. “A new look.” I spoke up and he was obviously pained that I was the one to have guessed correctly. “Right, a new look.” He turned his back without even looking at me and moved to the computer. There were a few moments of silence, save for the tapping of keys and the clicking of a mouse, as Zhang located his newest presentation. For whatever reason, he thought it wasn’t necessary to file his documents or to pull them up beforehand, so a good portion of every meeting was wasted while he searched for it. “Aha!” I looked up at the poorly done presentation to see a few mock-ups of new outfits that would be worn on tour and in promotional videos. “Excuse me? What’s this?” I stood up and moved closer to the screen in an attempt to analyse them better. *** Charlotte moved elegantly in her black heels and wrap dress, even though it offered her very little room for movement. “They’re white? But we’ve always been purple with white accents? Now it’s white with purple buttons! You can barely even see them!” “We thought it was time for Kimiko to take the spotlight, we’re preparing her.” I couldn’t help but look away as Charlotte looked back at me, her eyes burning with rage. It was the scariest I had ever seen her. “Preparing her? For what?” “Well, Charlotte.” Zhang wasn’t about to back down, I could admire him for that, he always knew how to stand his own. I was sure most other men would cower in the face of her. “You’re getting on in age and I think it’s about time you retire from the idol life. You were solo for a few years, now it’s time for Charlotte to do the same. You’ve been a great mentor to her, she’ll be fine.” “I’m not worried about whether she’ll be fine or not, I’m worried about me.” She jabbed her perfectly manicured nail into his chest, her teeth bared. “I’m only 25! What? You think me to be some elderly woman?” There was a sound I couldn’t quite place. A laugh? A cry? It was hard to say. But she said nothing more, she stared Zhang down, pulled her handbag up over her shoulder and stormed out. I stared after her, my heart pounding. Seems she wasn’t as excited about the prospect of our future as I thought she might be. *** I shouldn’t have reacted the way I did, that much was given. Admittedly, it wasn’t very professional of me, and I was always professional. But I had done so much for Zhang, I had never faltered, and this was how he had chosen to repay me? “Getting on in age”? He was one to talk. The fury raged through me for the rest of the day and the only way to work it out was at the gym. I spent 3 hours there in total, going between cardio machines and weight machines. It wasn’t until my second hour that I hatched a plan, it was in my third that I fleshed it out. When I left the gym, I was smiling, my head up high, for I knew I’d work my way back into the industry. *** We were sure we wouldn’t see Charlotte the next day, that she’d quit and leave me to get on with it. So, you can understand my alarm when she walked into the office with an uncharacteristic smile and a tray of goodies. “Morning!” She exclaimed. Her voice had never been so joyful offstage. “Kimiko, hi!” She approached my desk and placed the sweet treats in front of me. “I wanted to apologise for my behaviour yesterday. It wasn’t very mature of me. I realise now that I need to set an example for you and prepare you for what’s waiting out there in the great wide world.” Her pointy nails tapped the top of the box. “Please accept this gift as a token of my appreciation. It’s been great working with you for as long as I have and I’m so grateful.” Her lips pulled back into a smile, and I couldn’t help but shudder at the sight of it. “I-it’s okay, Charlotte. I understand your frustration. Thank you for being my mentor.” Now she stood at her full height so that my eyes were level with her chest, and I quickly averted my gaze. “How about we go for dinner this evening? I know a great sushi restaurant down the road from here. We can discuss how to further your career?” “Yes, I’d love that.” My head turned again, and I looked up at her, trying my best to avoid starting straight at her … well, you know. “Thank you, Charlotte.” I bowed my head in appreciation, she squeezed my shoulder and then went off to her own desk. I saw my face in the black screen of my desktop, and I quickly buried my face in my hands to conceal my red cheeks from those around me. What had happened to Charlotte? How could one person change overnight? *** After spending most of the day in the office, not that there was much to be done, I went hope to freshen up before meeting Kimiko. A nice, steaming bath helped remove the smell of the office from my skin. I scrubbed away all the filth and the resentment and climbed out feeling renewed. Things were looking up, at least they would be once my plan was set into emotion. Luckily for me, Kimiko was highly impressionable, and I was sure it wouldn’t take much to manipulate her. Once dry, I moved into my bedroom where I slid open the doors of my closet. I inspected the contents while chewing at my lower lip. What to wear? I wanted to appear friendly, but superior to her. Like someone she would take advice from but would also look up to and admire. There was also an element of seductiveness I wanted to add to the outfit as I was sure that would aid my cause. I settled on a white blouse with bell sleeves. To accentuate my waist and break up the outfit, I wore a black button up corset, embellished with silver, ornate buttons. On the bottom I wore a white pencil-skirt with a slit up to my upper mid-thigh, allowing for the seductive aspect. The black, chunky boots added the dominant vibes. I was, however, missing out on the friendly side of things, it was never something I’d been good at, and I was sure I hadn’t anything in my possession that would help. I dug through some of my idol clothes and eventually found a white bow that I pinned my bangs back with. I supposed that would do. And so, I headed out of my apartment to meet her. *** I was thankful that she had offered up her time to mentor me, so I showed up to the sushi restaurant a good 20 minutes early. The night was warm and humid, so I opted for a light, flowy dress that came down to my knees. I paired it with some nude tights and some pink sandals. Although I instantly regretted it when Charlotte approached, dressed as if we were going to an A-list restaurant and not just having a casual dinner. Despite my anxiety I waved as she approached and forced a smile onto my lips. “Good evening, Charlotte. You look great!” “As do you.” Her comment didn’t ease me much, as there wasn’t much warmth to her tone. Then, suddenly, it was as if a switch flicked inside her head and her face lit up and she was reaching for my hand. “Come! Come! I’ve booked us a room in the back for some intimacy.” She beamed back at me; this newfound friendliness was unusual. Once inside, we were welcomed by a group of waiters who all bowed in unison. Whether this was their usual ritual, or it was because they knew they had idols coming in, I couldn’t say. Charlotte disregarded them and walked straight to the well-dressed young man who waited at the end of the procession. “Ichiro!” She threw her arms around him and held him in an embrace that was a little too informal for them to be mere acquaintances. “Thank you for having me and my friend, Kimiko.” She stepped aside allowing him to greet me. “A pleasure, as always. Please, follow me to our VIP room.” Charlotte followed him and I stumbled to keep up with them while the others separated to tend to the restaurant. The room was at the very back of the restaurant and was separated by a hanging sheet. Ichiro stood to the side and held it open for the two of us. The room was meant for a large number of people giving the huge table and many chairs, but tonight it would accommodate only two. *** I invited her to sit and then moved around to sit across from her, any person could tell she was nervous from the way she bit at her lower lip and played with the fabric of her dress. It wouldn’t work if she was on edge, I had to find a way to put her at ease. “I’ve requested that they bring out one of every dish, I wasn’t entirely sure what you liked it. It is an extensive menu, but just eat what you can.” There was no response to that, just a simple nod of her head so I knew I’d have to resort to sake to help loosen her nerves. Before leaving Ichiro had assigned us a waiter, I called him over and requested that he bring their most expensive bottle. I probed her for information on her personal life while we waited. That was how you gained someone’s trust, right? By showing interest in the most mundane aspects of their life. I was pleased to see she was willingly giving me intel on her family and her friends; it was a good start. When the bottle arrived, she told me she wasn’t much of a drinker, she never had been. However, she was willing to try giving all the effort I had gone to to help her out. I watched in amusement as her face scrunched up at the taste of it. She laughed with me afterwards and I could sense that she was becoming more at ease with me. After only 20 minutes of waiting, our table was now covered in plates of sushi rolls, bowls of ramen and a whole other assortment of food. Her eyes were wide with amazement. “Wow, this is so much food. I would really hate for all of this to go to waste. Let’s try our best to eat as much as we can, okay?” She looked to me for approval. “I like your way of thinking.” I then prompted for her to begin eating. We chatted while we ate, and I gave her tips on how best to present herself on stage and with the fans. Of course, none of those tips would be of any use by the time I was done with her, but I had to keep up the façade. I feigned eating for the most part, I’d pick up a roll with my chopsticks and then another and then place them back onto another plate. Too invested in the conversation, she didn’t even notice. She, on the other hand, made good work of the food and I was surprised she could even eat as much as she had. This was promising. About an hour in and I could tell she was close to admitting defeat. Her face showed clear signs of discomfort and her hand rubbed her belly to ease the bloating, even under the flowy dress I could make out the roundness of it. “I do hope you have room for dessert.” I snapped my fingers and the waiter commenced clearing the table of dishes. Of the food that had been brought in, she had eaten about half of it. There was an instant smile on her face, and she sat up as best as she could. “I always have room for dessert, it’s my favourite course.” Once the table was cleared, a number of waiters came in carrying multiple dishes. There were whole soufflé cheesecakes, matcha cookies, different flavours of mochi, parfaits and so much more. *** My eyes darted from dish to dish, so many of my favourite items all in one place, where did I even begin? Without even considering what this would do to my figure, I collected a number of things and piled them on to my plate. I alternated between foods, taking big mouthfuls, and washing them down with sake. By the time I was done, I was uncomfortably full and somewhat drunk. Charlotte seemed as sober as when she had come in, I suspected she had a higher tolerance than me. My stomach was so painful, and my head was so dizzy that I couldn’t even remember any of the tips she had given me, but I was sure she wouldn’t mind recounting them on a day that I was more coherent. I struggled to stand up and cursed to myself, the waiter rushed to my aid, but Charlotte was already at my side swatting him away. She hooked her arm under mine and lifted me to my feet. She walked me home and took me up into my apartment, she even stayed to fix me a cup of green tea. When I had drank it, she assisted me into bed and told me she’d call in the morning. And it was her call that woke me up at 10 o’clock in the morning. My head pounded but I answered and requested that she speak in a hushed tone. She pulled the phone away to laugh and after she had collected herself, she invited me out for breakfast. I was treated once more by her while she taught me proper idol etiquette. I indulged on fluffy pancakes and iced coffee and even some macarons. *** There wasn’t much that needed to be done with Kimiko, all I had to do was present her with sweet foods and she’d devour them, no questions asked. So, I stuck with this plan for a while. We’d eat out, I told her it was better than spending our days in the office. It wasn’t as if we did much in there anyway, other than idle around. It also meant that Zhang wouldn’t be watching over us and, more importantly, wouldn’t be observing the changes in Kimiko, even if they weren’t so noticeable at first. In the first month her face had become rounder, her arms and legs a little thicker and her midsection was carrying a little more flesh than usual. It wasn’t much, but it was enough to cause an uproar in the idol community. So, I did my best to hide her from Zhang and from our costume designer. When the changes became too noticeable, like the double chin and the fatter ass, I insisted that Zhang allow us to go on a retreat together so that we could have our privacy. If he wanted her to be a superstar, then he’d surely allow it … and he did. This was a lot easier than I had ever expected, the universe seemed to be on my side. *** We went to Niseko and stayed in a luxury resort that looked out at the vast countryside, mountains lining the horizon. It was so beautiful, so serene but I couldn’t help but be troubled by my growing size. In the last 2 months I had put on a total of 30 pounds. Giving that I was a mere 5 foot 3, it was very obvious. My stomach had started to bulge out and none of my old idol clothes fit. My thighs were thicker and softer, and my face was much rounder, I couldn’t recognise the fat face that stared back at me. And so, I confided in Charlotte as we shared a sofa and looked out at the setting sun. “I’ve put on weight recently; I fear it might affect my career.” “You’ve been overindulging, I admit.” Charlotte turned to look at me, a smile curving her narrow lips. “But it’s not a bad thing. I did the same before I started my career. Knowing that I would have to follow a strict regime once I started my life as an idol, I chose to explore all the things I never would. I ate cake after cake, I lounged around in my underwear, I watched movies and ate popcorn. And when it was time to take the stage, I quickly worked it all off. I was looking after myself, and now look at me.” I couldn’t help but admire her slim figure. She wore a crop top and leggings and there wasn’t an ounce of fat on her, I envied her in that moment. Whereas I had covered my figure with a sweater and loose cargo pants, but it didn’t do much to hide my fattening form. My embarrassment must have been obvious to her as she reached out and took my hand, she shuffled closer to me and stared directly into my eyes. “Don’t worry, Kimiko. We have plenty time to prepare for your life of fame. But for now, I urge you to immerse yourself into a life of luxury while you can. When we return to Tokyo, you’ll have 3 months to shed the weight. You’ll be fine.” This eased my worries somewhat and I was just happy to enjoy her company while I could. Her body was so close to mine and as we sat, I felt her hand move onto my thigh, it lingered there, caressing the soft flesh. My eyes closed and I leaned back in the chair, relaxing. We sat like this for some time until she had our personal attendant bring some food up from the kitchen. Then the night was spent with me binging and her explaining how best to communicate with fans online and in person. *** This pattern continued for some time. I treated her to the sweetest treats and the most delectable meals, while also filling her with information she’d never have to use. Every now and then I’d coerce her with some physical affection, it was obvious she was starved for it. Kimiko was so shy and so introverted that I was sure she’d never been with anyone. She always leaned into it and I could see the sadness in her face when I pulled my hand away, it humoured me. The bigger she got, the better it became. I’d rub her bloated belly and sometimes I’d even feed her, she liked that best. How sick. It meant that I could control how much of what she was eating, meaning her weight gain progressed a lot faster than I had expected. Only 3 weeks into the retreat and she had outgrown all of her clothes. The waist of her pants strained against her wide hips, her T-shirts and sweaters rode up to reveal her wobbly, jiggling belly. Zhang would have a fit when he saw her, I couldn’t help but smile at the prospect. And with 4 more weeks to go, I knew she’d leave here even bigger. Her career would be ruined before it’d properly have the chance to take off, and I’d be the one to step in and take the stage once again. I know, I’m an evil genius. Zhang had been in constant contact with me since he’d agreed to have me mentor her. I had insisted he do not message her, as it would interfere with our training. He explained in emails and in text messages that Kimiko’s first tour date had already sold out and that the fans were demanding a second be added. I’m sure they’d regret that request when they saw her come onto stage, a wobbling mess. I couldn’t wait. While at the resort, we had to practice a number of songs and dance routines so she’d be prepared for what was to come. At first it was easy, she picked it up on the spot and it only needed one or two practices before she could complete a whole number. However. As she got bigger, she became even clumsier and ungainly. The frustration would get to her as she stumbled across the rehearsal room, her tight clothes redirecting her movement. *** “I .. can’t … do this.” I wheezed as I dabbed the sweat from my brow. I propped my body up against the mirror, my belly hanging out over the waistline of my pants. “I’m too fat, Charlotte.” “That’s exactly why this is perfect.” She handed me a towel and put her hand on my shoulder. “If you can master this dance carrying around all this extra weight, imagine how good you’ll be at it when you’re thin again.” She was right, of course she was. If I could just get this dance down, then I'd be so good at it once I was thin again. *** I didn’t want her throwing herself around like this, there was always the possibility that she’d not gain as fast or even lose some weight but I had to make sure she still believed I was helping her. So, after every rehearsal I would take her down to the VIP restaurant, I couldn’t have any fans or possibly paparazzi spotting her like this it’d all be over, and I’d order a number of things from the menu. Luckily she’d eat every last thing and would always indulge in dessert afterward, so I don’t think I had too much to worry about. It seemed she was at a point where all she wanted to do was to satiate her appetite and to just fully let go. *** None of the clothes I had brought with me fit me any longer and so I found myself sneaking over to Charlotte’s room in only my underwear and my bra, neither of which would contain me any longer. I knocked quietly on her door and pressed my figure to the wall beside it to conceal myself. Charlotte answered, somewhat groggy, she must have just woken up. Her eyes widened when she saw me pressed to the wall and she smiled. “And to what do I owe the pleasure?” There was humour in her tone. “I have nothing to wear.” I spoke in hushed tones although there was no one else around to hear me. Opening the door wider, she ushered me in. *** I watched as she waddled into my room her ass cheeks quivering with every step that she took. How big was she now I wondered? She was no longer chubby, but now obese. We had only 1 week left in the resort, and she was much bigger than I had ever intended. It wouldn’t have taken much to have her pushed aside, an extra 30 pounds or so, but 30 pounds was easier to lose. This, on the other hand, was life altering weight. It’d take her a lot of time and effort to lose and, if even if she did manage that, she’d be left with a lot of loose hanging skin. Heavily she dropped onto my bed and I saw the mattress sink beneath her weight. Her belly spilled out onto her lap, riddled with stretch marks and cellulite. Though I didn’t particularly want to, I sat down beside her and placed my hand on her thigh. Once I could grip it easily, but now, even with my fingers fully spread, I covered only half of it. “It’s okay. We can have some new ones delivered; it shouldn’t cost much to have it fast tracked.” She sat forward and her belly fell onto my hand, smothering it. Trying to remove it was useless, it was trapped, and she didn’t even seem to realise. “I’m so fat. I didn’t mean for it to get this bad. No one’s gonna like me like this.” Her big, brown eyes began to water. Regardless of her weight gain, she still managed to keep herself groomed. Her white hair, with the black roots showing, was braided into two pigtails. Her nails were painted a nice mauve colour but did little to distract from the fat sausages they were connected to. “It’s not that bad, I promise you Kimiko.” My free hand sought out hers. “When we get back to Tokyo we’ll take you straight to a private gym. My personal trainer is amazing, he’ll have that weight off you in no time. Zhang is still promoting you, building the tension so that when you make your great debut, the proud will be filled with anticipation. I’m sure he won’t mind prolonging your first show, it’ll just add to the hype.” With her head down, her hanging chin bunched up against her sagging breasts. The sight of her repulsed me, but I couldn’t let it show. She leaned back some allowing my hand to break free, I wiped her sweat onto the bed covers and then cradled her chubby cheek. “It’ll be okay. We’ll have you back to yourself and you’ll be happier than ever with your new budding career.” *** She always knew how to comfort me and so I sat with her for a little while longer before she put it an order with a plus size supplier for more clothes that would fit me. They arrived the next day and it made me feel somewhat bette just to be able to conceal my body. The last week flew by and still I devoured every bit of food that was presented to me. Before we left, I had Charlotte join me while I stepped onto a scale for the first time since gaining weight. I just needed to know where I was at so we could work out where I needed to be. I took a deep breath and hefted myself up onto device. The numbers bounced on the screen before settling at 363.3lbs. My vision blurred and I reached for Charlotte who struggled under my weight. “Oh my god. I’m huge.” “I already have a strict diet regime and exercise plan for when we’re back in Tokyo. Don’t worry, I have it all under control.” She helped me off of the scale and back into the bedroom. This was it, we returning to Tokyo today, my bags were already packed with my oversized clothes. There was no turning back. The thought of it made me sick. What would Zhang think? What would the fans think? Oh god. They were all going to hate me, despise me. I didn’t know what to do. *** This was it. We were returning to Tokyo and her first show was only a day after we arrived. She hadn’t the faintest clue, I couldn’t wait to unveil it to her. With thousands of fans expecting her attendance, there was no way she could back out. I wasn’t lying when I said I had a plan. Of course, it wasn’t a workout routine or diet, but it was a plan all the same. I’d used the clothes she was wearing as reference and had sent the measurements to a friend who designed costumes. He’d have one ready for her and for the show. Yes, she’d already outgrown these clothes, but that made it all the better. I hired a car and drove us back to Tokyo, which took just over 15 hours. We could have halved that time by taking the train, which is how we got there, but I couldn’t risk us being spotted and our pictures being plastered online. I drove us straight to my apartment and took her inside. Sensing her nerves, I had her stay over and ordered us takeaway from a nearby restaurant. I tempted fate that night and ordered double what she’d usually eat, I somehow predicted she’d eat more to ease her budding worries and I was right to think so. Every last bit of food, every sushi roll, every onigiri, every bowl of soup and every bit of mochi was demolished by her waiting maw. Afterwards I sat with her and watched a movie, she nestled into my side, her weight pinning me down. It was evident that she had taken more out of this relationship than I had, but I had to keep up pre-tense just to keep this going until the moment she stepped on that stage the next day. *** I woke up in Charlotte’s bed in the early hours of the morning. Sunlight flooded her bedroom, and I covered my eyes, groaning as I sat up. Charlotte was on the phone in the next room, speaking quietly. With much effort I pushed myself out of bed and found one of her robes. I was stupid to think that it would fit and, after failing to even get it over my fat arms, I tossed it onto the floor and walked out in my underwear. When she heard me come in, no doubt from my heavy breathing and even heavier footsteps, she spoke a little quicker before ending the call. “What’s happening?” “There’s been a slight mix up.” She turned to me and approached. “We’re performing today.” “Today?!” I exclaimed and I felt my heart pound, almost as if it would burst out of my chest. “No. Not today. I can’t.” “There’s nothing we can do, Kimiko. The stadium is sold out, they’re expecting us in 7 hours. We have to perform.” “No. No. Not when I look like this.” Both hands grabbed my belly and it shook immensely, altering my balance. “I’m a pig. A monster. Charlotte, please.” *** I pulled her to me in an embrace, my arms barely able to reach around her. I expected this response and I knew now was the moment to use as much physical affection as I could possibly muster. Which was insanely hard to do when she was so sweaty and so squishy. Pulling away I looked her dead in the eyes, searching for the Kimiko I had once known for it was so hard to take this one so seriously. With her eyes welling up like this and her plump lips scrunching and twisting, she looked like a very upset, extremely fat baby. “I’ve explained the whole situation to Zhang.” That was a big, fat lie. “He’s conferring with the light technicians as we speak. We’ll use smoke and mirrors, no one will even see you fully. It is just a teaser after all, the real tour doesn’t start for another month or two.” More lies. “I’ll make this work; I swear to you.” It worked. Holy hell, it worked. I really had underestimated my skills. I had her out the house within the hour and we were on our way to my friend the costumer designer. I briefed him beforehand. He was not to react to her size, at all. He was also to act as if he were making this costume up on the spot and make her believe it had not been done for a while now. Thankfully, he was pretty convincing and we were leaving again an hour later with our costumes. Now it was to hair and make up, again I had briefed them, and had told Zhang to stay away knowing that if he saw her, he’d call the whole thing off. I had told him that Kimiko wanted to make her big debut a huge reveal and that if he spoiled that, she’d be extremely upset. Everything was set now, just 4 more hours until the big reveal. I couldn’t wait any longer. *** We were in the car headed to the stadium. I shifted constantly in the back seat, the belt digging into my flesh. I felt awkward and uncomfortable with my hair nicely done and my face lightly covered with make up. It didn’t matter how much I tried, I looked a disaster. All I could see in the rear-view mirror was the fat beast staring straight back at me. When we passed the front of the building, I instinctively bowed my head to hide from the masses of people outside, but it wasn’t needed giving that the windows were tinted. Charlotte helped me out of the car and to the back entrance. I was close to 400 pounds now and it was so hard to walk. I waddled and stumbled, my belly slapped against my thighs and I had to stop every now and then just to catch my breath. The corridor was empty of people, which I found to be strange, as she escorted me to the dressing room. There I squeezed into the tightest skirt I’d ever worn. My original style had been light and flowy, flared and innocent. But Charlotte had insisted I go go for a more sensual style which would have been fine had I been 250 pounds lighter. In the mirror I inspected every bit of me, which was a bad idea. There was a cut out in both hips and my fat poked out of the holes. The skirt came to my lower thighs, showing off my fat calves and even fatter candles. My fat feet had been squeezed into a pair of heels and I struggled to balance on them, fearing that they’d break beneath my weight. My once long, curly hair had been cut into a short, sharp bob that did nothing to hide my fat cheeks and jiggling jowls. I wanted to cry. *** I watched her look in the mirror and knew I had to get her away from it. We were matching outfits, but mine was a little less revealing, that had been purposeful of course. To those in the crowd it would look as though she were flaunting her fat body, as if she were proud of it. “Come on. Let’s get you to the stage. The fans are ready. I’ll be by your side the entire time. We’re still a duo for the time being, after all. Remember, smoke and mirrors. No one is gonna see the real you and by the time you do, you’ll have shed all of that weight.” We walked, well she waddled, to the stage and as we got closer, we heard the cheers from inside the stadium. As expected, they were all for Kimiko. But that would end this evening. I saw Zhang approaching, saw his mouth drop open, and quickly diverted her so we could get onto the stage before he could intervene. I beckoned her to the centre, and I stood a little behind her, off to the side. This wasn’t where I wanted to be, but I would soon be stepping in to take her place, I knew it. We stood in darkness, the crowd just a bunch of distant shapes and then, suddenly, the lights came on and the music started. From here I could see the crowd and could only imagine the stunned silence were it not for the music. Kimiko looked back at me and I egged her on and so she started dancing, moving awkwardly across the stage. Her breathy voice rang out in the open space, and I started singing with her, my voice stronger and louder. She bumped into me a few times, but I didn’t let it bother me, I remained composed knowing that she’d be booed off soon enough. We passed on the stage, and I could see the beads of sweat running down her forehead. *** The crowd had stopped chanting my name the moments the lights revealed me as a fat pig. Charlotte had promised they wouldn’t see me, had there been some issue? Every time I turned to look off stage, there was Zhang waving his hands around in panic looking at me in complete disgust. This was a disaster. My whole body wobbled and jiggled as I tried to keep up and there were several times where I thought I might fall. But I kept going. What else could I do. That was until the heels snapped beneath me and I fell onto the floor, my dress bursting open as I did so. It had felt so tight on me I should have expected no less. The music stopped and Charlotte stood aside, not bothering to run to my aid. “Fatty!” I heard them cry. “Beast!” My eyes stung. “Sweaty pig!” This was it. It had been my moment to shine, to grow, and my career had been ruined just like that. Zhang eventually came over to help me to my feet, to get me off the stage, to save him from embarrassment. I pushed him away and spoke into the microphone. “I’m sorry for the shame I’ve brought upon myself and my colleagues. I bowed, still showing all, and then waddled off the stage, leaving them all with the sight of jiggling ass and belly. I caught a glimpse of Charlotte on the way out, she was grinning. She’d been waiting for this so she could swoop in and take the spotlight. She had planned this whole thing. But there was a naught I could do. *** I moved to the centre and greeted the crowd. “I’m sorry for Kimiko. She hasn’t been herself recently. But I’m honoured to step in and give you guys the show you’ve been waiting for.” I performed perfectly that night, the crowd chanted my name louder than ever and I was sure my solo career would blossom from here.

Me and Lila had been together for several years now, and it had been the best time of both our lives.
