romantic

I return to my sketchpad to take of something old
also reminding me of the source conversation….
I spoke that I did not care either way where what was placed….

whether the books were stacked by difference
even though I accept that difference….
I had some idea, of consideration to the buyers’ market
and my own obsessively categorical and organized self….

What was I even saying, there’s no difference at all
but at the time I recall brother stating, that each
piece of romantic fiction was to fit the same shelf….

for to separate them by sub-sexual-genre
would be simply to itemize, make novelty of them all
in a world where “those thought not for”, still take interest
perhaps he was most correct after all….

He spoke of no personal interest in “a woman’s man”
for that was not specifically a “man’s man”

He did not believe, in congratulating a stage-creature
from barking temporarily, as something contrary to their sexual make-up
he saw no trace of bravery in it….

the expectations of the job…..
There was to be one genre, without any tags

“Romance”
That is all he insisted….

But we both agreed
despite his romantic status
and my following of the genre….

That it was a tawdry thing
he in relation to the tales contents and clichés
mine of a more real persuasion….
